Líneas de investigación

He is the coordinator of the Vegetation and Biodiversity Lab, a research group focusing on plant communities and related ecosystems under three perspectives: ecological and historical biogeography of vegetation; seed regeneration of plants in structured environments; and mapping and monitoring of ecosystems and habitat types. Research tools include field work in mountain areas, analysis of vegetation databases, integration of vegetation data with remote sensing, and laboratory experiments. From 2020, Borja is the scientific director of the Jardín Botánico Atlántico de Gijón, integrating the plant biodiversity research program with the IMIB and the University of Oviedo.
